Class of 2007

Barbara starts the speech off by recognizing everyone who has contributed to the education of the students. She talks about how she hopes all the graduates get decent jobs. She says that some students may be left behind for a bit but she assures parents not to worry because in society today, it is hard to find a decent job so quickly and it takes time. She relates the graduating class to Iraqi's who flee their country everyday. She advises them to take the same route. She also advises that although our world is becoming everyday less inhabitable, someone can make a difference and that someone is in that graduating class.

I would say that Barbara is optimistic because she comes to the realization that the world is not perfect but she knows that this new generation of students can make a difference in the world.

Today you graduate from a life that was filled with people who care for you and tried to help you and formed you for the new world you will enter today. Today you leave behind traditions that you have experienced in school since kindergarten and the teachers that formed your way of thinking. You also leave behind the idea of being a child and graduate into a world of maturity and more of an understanding of the world. Thank your parents for always sending you to school with money for lunch and the love and lectures they have always given you to help shape you for the future. Give thanks to those true friends you have made and/or had since you all were very young. All these people and more have helped to form you into the person you are right now.
All of you will enter the new world in different ways getting a job, travelling the world, going straight to college and making entirely new friends. Your life is just beginning. You have many more life experiences ahead of you and high school was just one of the big ones. You start a new chapter in your book of life today and, hopefully, you will have many more chapters to live through in your life.
The world may seem like a scary place but if you try hard enough, you will make it through. The world we live in is not and will not always be a safe place but only you, the future of our great world, can make a difference. The future depends on the new, fresh, young, enthusiastic minds of your generation. Everyone who cares for you, wishes this graduating class of 2007, the best of luck for what is to come in the future. I hope all your dreams come true.
